Dartmouth-Hitchcock Workforce Readiness Institute is looking for motivated individuals for the Medical Assistant Apprenticeship Training Program.

Candidates will be selected and hired by Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health to become Medical Assistants working in our Lebanon area clinics (Dartmouth-Hitchcock, Mt. Ascutney, New London Hospital, and Newport).
An additional cohort will be selected and hired by Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health to become Medical Assistants working in our Bedford area (Manchester, Nashua, Concord) clinics. During the 11-week training period, participants will earn college credits and an hourly training wage. At the end of the 11-week training individuals will sit for the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) exam.

The Medical Assistant Apprenticeship Program is designed to give trainees the knowledge and skills they need to embark upon a career in the medical field. This full-time, hands-on training program includes both classroom and clinical training. Classes offered during the program include: Introduction to Anatomy & Physiology, Medical Terminology, Pathophysiology, Pharmacology, Clinical Medical Assisting with Lab, and Healthcare Communications.

Nurse Assistant Training Program

Do you enjoy helping people, learning, and working with a team? Dartmouth-Hitchcock (D-H) and Dartmouth-Hitchcock/Cheshire Medical Center (D-H CMC), in collaboration with River Valley Community College (RVCC), are offering paid training programs to become a Nurse Assistant in Lebanon at the RVCC Lebanon Academic Center, and in Keene at D-H Cheshire Medical Center Keene. Earn a training wage while you learn entry-level nursing skills, how to be a valuable and adaptable employee, communication for the healthcare professional, how to care for people and be empathetic, along with teamwork and a diversity of skills for the workplace.

Up to eight (8) individuals will be selected and hired by D-H Lebanon to become Nursing Assistants working in our Lebanon area inpatient units. Additional cohorts will select up to four (4) individuals to be hired by D-H Cheshire Medical Center Keene to become Nursing Assistants working in our Keene area units. The training program is taught using a combination of classroom instruction, skills lab, and clinical training. If selected you will receive a training wage and the cost of the training program will be sponsored by D-H / D-H Cheshire Medical Center Keene. Upon completion of the program and obtaining your Nurse Assistant license, you will be offered a full-time Licensed Nurse Assistant position within an inpatient unit.

Pharmacy Technician Apprenticeship

Do you enjoy problem-solving, helping people, providing exceptional service, and working with a team? If so, training to become a Certified Pharmacy Technician is the first step on a progressive career ladder at Dartmouth-Hitchcock. As a Technician, you can quickly grow to become an Advanced Technician, a Pharmacy Lead, Trainer or Supervisor. Pharmacy Technicians are detail-oriented, enjoy a fast-paced environment and are committed to helping patients access the medications they need.

The Pharmacy Technician Apprenticeship Program is designed to give trainees the knowledge and skills they need to embark upon a career in the Pharmacy. Candidates will be selected and hired by Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health to become Certified Pharmacy Technicians in our Retail, Inpatient, or Cancer Center Pharmacies in either Lebanon or New London, NH.

During the 11 weeks of paid training students earn college credits at Colby-Sawyer College. At the end of the program students sit for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) exam and are enrolled in a 2000 hour US DOL Registered Apprenticeship.

This full-time, hands-on training program includes both classroom, remote learning, and on-the-job training. Courses offered include Pharmacology, Processing and Handling of Medications and Medication Orders, Procurement, Billing, Reimbursement, Healthcare Professional Communication and Patient & Medication Safety.

Lakes Region Conservation Corps – Squam Lake, NH

The Squam Lakes Association (SLA) has six full-year (42.5 weeks) positions available through the Lakes Region Conservation Corps for the 2021-2022 program year, running from November 1st, 2021 – August 25th, 2022.

The Squam Lakes Association is a part of the Lakes Region Conservation Corps, an AmeriCorps State program that develops skills and experiences for conservation professionals, regardless of current experience levels. Lakes Region Conservation Corps members are the driving force behind many of the conservation efforts in New Hampshire’s Lakes Region (to learn more about the Lakes Region Conservation Corps, please visit: LakesRegionConservationCorps.org).

The program provides hands-on conservation experience and certifications over a broad range of areas that ensure that members are capable of independently approaching a variety of tasks in the environmental conservation field. Full-year members at the SLA experience the seasonality of boots-on-the-ground conservation.

In the winter:
-maintain the SLA’s 50+ miles of trails
-trek onto the ice-covered lake to monitor water quality
-lead volunteer crews in the field
-develop and lead engaging environmental programs
-assist with developing conservation projects and reports

In the summer:
-scuba dive to remove invasive aquatic plants
-oversee our low-impact campsites
-develop environmental programs for the public and local summer youth camps
-remove invasive species
-maintain the SLA’s trail network
-educate the public on local and regional conservation initiatives
-and more!

Full-Year Lakes Region Conservation Corps members at the Squam Lakes Association have the opportunity to receive the following over the course of the program:
-SSI Scuba diving certification
-Weed control diver certification
-Wilderness First Aid & CPR certifications
-NH Commercial boating license
-Plow Operator training
-Ice Safety training
-Water Quality training
-Communications training
-Lake Host training
-Housing with kitchen and laundry facilities
-Living allowance: $534 bi-weekly (subject to taxes)
-AmeriCorps Education Award: $6,345 upon successful completion of program (minimum of 1700 hours)
-AmeriCorps Health Insurance

Lakes Region Conservation Corps at Squam Lakes Association Candidate Qualifications:
We select Lakes Region Conservation Corps members who display a great attitude and commitment to conservation, enjoy hard work, and aren’t afraid to get dirty.

Lakes Region Conservation Corps members must meet the following minimum qualifications to serve with our sites.
-Must be 18 years of age by start date of your program.
-Must be competent swimmer (dependent upon site)
-Able to lift 50 pounds (dependent upon site)
-Able to carry and use heavy tools while hiking (dependent upon site)
-Able to hike at least 8 miles in a day (dependent upon site)
-Able to work independently and with a group
-Available for duration of program (end date dependent on completion of service hours)
-Must meet the Corporation for National Community Service’s minimum requirements:
i) Must clear all required National Service Criminal History Check
ii) Must be a high school graduate, GED recipient, or must be working toward attaining a high school diploma or GED during their term of service
iii) Must be a US citizen, US national, or legal permanent resident of the US
